Mother's Day surprise !

OMG !!! I totally forgot to mention that I got a Cricut Cake for Mother's Day !! So excited about using it in my Cake making. I made this flower pot cake for our gathering and cut out the leaves with my new machine...it will take some getting used to, just like using the Expression for the first time, but I do have a friend that offered me a free lesson ! Mother's Day Flower Pot Card !

Love my cricut...got this Flower pot image from Walk in My garden and cut out two pieces, added foam adhesive making it into a pocket and added a smaller card that pulls out. The handmade paper flowers are attached to the top edge of the pot and at the top edge of the pull out card. I embellished the pot with satin ribbon and rick rack, and chalked randomly around the edges.

Stamping Tip

Ok, I don't normally stamp, but have been really interested in incorporating some stamping into my card making and scrapbooking ! Soooo....I know we all have scrap paper and most of the time we really never to back to use it. Butttt ..I have a solution ...when making a card or adding a sentiment to a scrapbooking project that you are going to stamp and you find the right color of paper to match but it is a textured paper ( and those of us who will admit it, have stamped on textured paper and wondered why it looks sooo bad...well) The solution is to turn the paper over on the smoothe side and stamp ! Ta-Da !! Your stamped sentiment matches your other papers and it still looks good even though you stamped on textured paper ( who'll know ??!) Hee-hee..I won't tell.

May challenge- Cuttlebug Blog

May challenge - Cuttlebug Blog

I am dedicating this two-page layout to my Mother ...to show her life's journey, because she is turning "70" this year ! Papers used : Bobunny (Back to basics), metallic vellum, rspearlized papers, Bazzil cardstock. There are four places to actually put pictures right on the page and two pull out tags to add journaling or more pictures behind the first page (it's a pocket), I also used silk flowers, organza ribbon, handmade paper flowers, wiring, decorative trim metal brads, Made the butterflies from the Build-a-flower die and emboss set from Cuttlebug, and also used, Cuttlebug -Pop culture borders embossing folders. The flourishes were made from a sizzix die and stickled for the bling !!

Latest projects !

Birthday gift bag w/ card

I made this bag from a lunch bag that I cut down, added some eyelets to hold the ribbon handles and embellished the front and back with patterned paper. The cupcake was cut from cricut, embossed with Cuttlebug embossing folders, sprinkled with flake glitter. (Same for the card - just smaller )

Lettering :TIP

Lettering :Tip .....If you want your chipboard letters or sticker letters to stand out on a layout or card, trace around the outter edge with a black, or navy blue pen . You could even add dots and dashes all the way around each letter, to make it stand out more !

April challenge

I die cut the flower petals from the round tag die in the cuttlebug collection. Embossed each petal with the circle/spot embossing folder from the Pop culture embossing set, and spaced them out attaching the top portion to the pull out card and the bottom portion to the actual envelope part of the card, each with their own brad. (So that when the card is in the envelope it fits right over the smaller brad on the bottom half of the card, making it one flower ) I made my own template from this card, but can give you measurements.

EASEL CARD

As promised, here are the steps I followed to make these easel cards .

Easel card Instructions :

Starting with a 12x12 piece of cardstock.

Cut cardstock in half and place one half in front of you, and set the other half aside.

Turn the 6 x 12 half of cardstock with the 12” side long ways in front of you and fold in half toward you, making a 6x 6 card.

Now opening the card back up, take the top half (6x6 fold) lay it flat and fold only the top half in half again making a 3x6 fold.

You can now decorate the bottom half of the 6x12 cardstock….and add a brad or button after you’ve decorated to your liking, about 2 ½” inches down from the fold. This will be the stopper for your card when it is sitting on display. And set aside.

Now take the other half of 6x12 cardstock and cut that in half..giving you a 6x6 square. Decorate that as piece how you would like for the front of the card to be. Adding paper and sentiments or other embellishments.

Then bringing over both pieces add a very strong adhesive to the 3x 6 folded piece of cardstock and attach the 6 x 6 square to it, matching up the bottoms of each piece. Your card should now lay flat in a 6x6 card style.

Following the simple folding steps can be used to make any size easel card, just make sure they lay flat as one card when finished.
